Blanching green beans or asparagus is an easy process and ensures that your vegetables stay a vibrant green and seals in flavor

Bring a large pan of water to boil

After pan comes to a rolling boil, add vegetable

Cook only for 3-5 minutes depending on the thickness of vegetables, or asparagus or green beans, the vegetable turns a vibrant green. Immediately remove from heat and quickly, using a slotted spoon or a  submerged steaming basket, remove vegetables immediately into an ice water bath; this will stop the cooking process and leave you with a pretty green. The flavors will be sealed in the vegetable and will give you a nice crunch when you eat it.
